Today we remember Fusilier James Carragher - 6980511 - 2nd Battalion Royal Irish Fusiliers. Born in Carrickfergus in 1913 he died of injuries sustained in fighting on March 1st 1944 aged 31.
James was the son of Patrick and Alice Carragher who buried their son in Victoria Cemetery, Carrickfergus section F Grave 22. James is also remembered on the Carrickfergus 2nd World War Memorial in the Town Hall.
This site aims to record the details of all those men and women from the Borough of Carrickfergus who served during the Two World Wars. The blog is a work in progress and is constantly being updated - all the information collected will go towards The Carrickfergus Roll of Honour book which will hopefully be published in 2014.
